Speaker Underlines Iran, Turkey's Key Role in Resolving Regional Crises

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, in a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, stressed the two neighboring countries' key role in removing problems in the Middle-East and North Africa.
During the meeting held here in Tehran on Tuesday, Larijani pointed to the popular uprisings in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Bahrain, and stressed that these uprisings are the feedback of the demand for democracy and are the result of national humiliations suffered under dictatorial puppet regimes.

The Iranian parliament speaker further warned that the United States and other Western countries are pursuing their own objectives in the region and are attempting to take control of the pro-democracy movements in the Middle-East and North Africa.

Davutoglu, for his part, said Turkey believes most of the problems of the region can be resolved through cooperation between Ankara and Tehran.

He went on to say that Turkey is opposed to foreign interference in North Africa, adding that the Turkish government believes that internal disputes must be resolved through peaceful means and in a way that responds to the people's demands.

As regards developments in Syrian, the Turkish foreign minister stated that a strong and stable Syria is important for both Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
