Three ministers take up new positions

VIENTIANE,JULY.(KPL)- Former Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Bosengkham Vongdara, yesterday took over new post of new Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, replacing retired former Minister Mounkeo Oraboun.
Two new ministers assumed their offices on Monday under the appointment of cabinet reshuffle have been approved by the First Plenary Session of National Assembly (seventh legislature).
Mr Boviengkham Vongdara assumed his new post of Minister of Science and Technology, replacing Mr Bountiem Phissamay who was appointed the Minister to the Government’s Office.
The reshuffle ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly and other high-ranking official from line ministries and different government sectors.
“The cabinet reshuffle that not mean who may concerned are insufficient capacity and poor performance for his position because the demand of political affairs and followed by the appointment of State and Party,” Mr. Asang said at the ceremony.
The cabinet reshuffle was a common event has been executed in our State and Party. On the other hand it aimed at upgrading high-ranking officials’ knowledge and capacity to match the demand of political affairs in the new era, he added.
On the same day, Mr. Phouphet Khamphounvong, former Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR took over his new position as Minister of Finance, replacing Mr. Somdy Duangdy who assumed the Ministry of Planning and Investment, last week.
The event was witnessed by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad and other high-ranking officials.
