FM: Iran Not to Give Up N. Rights

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stressed that Tehran will certainly continue abiding by its Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) undertakings, but it may never give up even an iota of its inalienable nuclear rights.
"We do not retreat from our rights the same way that we are committed to our undertakings," Salehi told reporters after his meeting with Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Michael Spindelegger in Vienna on Tuesday.

He further underlined Iran's steadfast opposition to nuclear weapons, reminding the fatwa (religious decree) issued by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in opposition and condemnation of the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear arms.

"If Iran were after the acquisition of nuclear arms it would adopt another approach," Salehi reiterated.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, has always emphasized Iran's firm and steadfast opposition to the possession of the weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), atomic bombs in particular.

Iran has repeatedly called for global nuclear disarmament, specially in the Middle East region where the Zionist regime has stockpiled hundreds of nuclear warheads as a direct result of the covert and overt supports of the US and its European allies.

Iran, an NPT-signatory, has repeatedly called for the removal of all weapons of mass destruction from across the globe.
