Iranian FM to Attend D8 Meeting in Nigeria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi who was in Austria to hold meetings with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) officials and his Austrian counterpart left Vienna for Abuja on Wednesday morning to attend the 14th ministerial meeting of the eight Muslim developing countries (D8).
The D8 was established in 1997 in Istanbul, Turkey to enhance cooperation in the economic sector through sharing of expertise in order to improve the position of member countries in the global economy.
Earlier this week, the D8 Business Forum and Exhibition opened with the theme; multi-lateral collaboration for wealth creation through development of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria.
The D8 Federation of Chambers of Commerce which organized this yearly event hopes to encourage and improve business relationship among member nations.
The D8 nations, Nigeria, Iran, Egypt, Malaysia, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia have an estimated population of nine hundred and thirty million people.
