RF-China Agreement is impetus for partnership - interview

BEIJING, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - The Russia-China treaty of good
neighbourhood, friendship and cooperation, which was signed ten years ago,
is a major impetus for ongoing development of strategic partnership of
China and Russia for the benefit of the two countries and nations, China's
Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping said in an interview to Russian
media on Thursday.
"The treaty has become a programme document, providing long-term,
healthy and stable development of the China-Russia relations and has
marked their achieving of a qualitatively new level," he said.
The treaty "fixes legally the peace concept of eternal friendship
between the two countries and nations, it states equality and trust
relations of strategic cooperation and partnership in the quality of the
China-Russia model of relations, it has drafted the direction for
providing of firm mutual support and persistent improvement of the
many-sided practical cooperation."
The past decade was the period "of impetuous development, of major
breaks-through in the China-Russia relations," Cheng Guoping said. He
expressed confidence that the Treaty will retain its importance and
topicality "during the coming decade of the China-Russia relations, or
even further on."
