Hyundai named best car franchise in Britain
SEOUL, July 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's leading automaker Hyundai Motor Co. said Friday it has been named the best car franchise in Britain for the second year in a row, as its new vehicles win acclaim in the European country.
The company said it has been awarded the Car Franchise of the Year at the 2011 Motor Trader Industry Awards held Thursday. The award is handed out by Motor Trader magazine, a leading provider of auto-related news and sales information in Britain.
"The award is noteworthy because Hyundai won the award in 2010 and shows how much the company has grown in terms of quality control and consumer perception in the past year," the carmaker said in a press release.
The latest acknowledgment reflects the surge in sales in Britain last year that reached over 63,000 units, and excellent value-for-money Hyundai provides to its customers, Hyundai said.
The award comes as the South Korean car maker was named the "best car manufacturer" of 2011 by a British consumer rights group in late June.
The consumer group "Which?" picked Hyundai above rivals such as Toyota and BMW citing that the automaker sold models with high fuel efficiency and have made consistent efforts to improve the quality of vehicles.
