13 SOLDIERS KILLED
While efforts are under way for democratic move and new Constitution, grievous news for Turkey came from Silvan town of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir. While having a lunch break, PKK terrorists opened fire on soldiers. 13 soldiers were killed, and seven others were wounded in the clash.
ERDOGAN TURNS BACK HALF-WAY, HOLDS A SUMMIT
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was on his way to Esenboga Airport to depart for Istanbul, changed his way when he learned about the killed soldiers, and returned to Prime Ministry HQ. He called all security units for an urgent summit meeting. The meeting lasted 1.5 hours, and was participated by Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay, Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin, Chief of General Staff Gen. Isik Kosaner, Gendarmery Commander Necdet Ozel and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan.
THEY DECLARE DEMOCRATIC AUTONOMY
Democratic Society Congress held an extraordinary meeting with 850 delegates in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir. Aysel Tugluk announced the final declaration of the Congress, and said, "Kurdish people don't want to pursue its national presence as a society without status." PAIN AND ANGER
Turkey was deeply shaken by PKK terrorists' attack killing 13 soldiers. The attack enraged all segments of the Turkish society as it came in a period during which Turkey discusses ways to establish peace.
Gendarmerie teams, who were informed that the two recently-kidnapped soldiers and a health technician were in the rural area of southeastern Diyarbakir province's Silvan town, initiated a search in the region. PKK terrorists, who ambushed the security teams searching the caves in the valley near Resan creek, first attacked with a hand grenade and then a clash erupted. As 7 terrorists were killed in the clash, our loss was huge: 13 security officers died and 7 were wounded.
AT THE COST OF THEIR LIVES
A T-37 training plane crashed into the sea in the Aegean province of Izmir. Two military personnel on board the plane, who managed to change the aircraft's route towards the sea as it started to lose altitude, could not find the chance to use their ejection seats. The plane crashed into the sea 100 meters off the coast of Guzelbahce town where nearly 50,000 people live.

KILLED IN FIRE
General Staff stated, "our 13 soldiers were killed in a fire which broke out due to hand grenades hurled by terrorists in a forested area. Also, seven military personnel were wounded, and two of them are in severe condition. Seven terrorists were killed in the clash."
TROPHY RETURNED
Turkey's Besiktas soccer club made a radical decision. It has decided to return the last season's Turkish Cup Trophy to Turkish Football Federation (TFF) until club's vice-chairman, coach and team's protocol head --who were arrested under the match-fixing investigation-- are cleared of the charges.
