Head of Dagestan's village administration wounded in assassination

MAKHACHKALA, July 17 (Itar-Tass) -- The head of administration of the
settlement of Gedzhukh in Russia's North Caucasian republic of Dagestan
has been hospitalized in critical condition after an assassination
attempt, a spokesman for the republican administration of the Russian
Investigations Committee told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
"At 00:10 a.m. Moscow time on Sunday, unidentified gunmen opened
gunfire at Kaplan Kadyrov and fled," the spokesman said. Kadyrov received
serious wounds and was taken to a clinic in the town of Dagestanskiye Ogni.
An investigation is underway.
