Russia's Ulyanovsk automotive works to go on summer leave from July

ULYANOVSK, July 17 (Itar-Tass) -- One of Russia's leading automotive
enterprises, the Ulyanovsk works, will routinely suspend production from
July 18 through 31 for summer vacations, the company's press service told
Itar-Tass.
This is a scheduled two-week paid summer leave. While production lines
are idle, the plant will carry out routine equipment maintenance
operations. It will also continue operations related to a number of
large-scale investment projects, including those on the unification of its
main line to boost its capacity.
Such corporate summer leaves have been practices at the company since
2004. Car shipping however will be carried out in a regular regime. Thus,
it is planned to ship 5,000 cars in July.
According to the press service, the Ulyanovsk automotive works turned
out 28,500 UAZ cars in the first six months of 2011, or by some 40 percent
more than in the same period last year.
Under the company's production plans, a total of 62,500 cars are to be
manufactured by the end of the year, or by 13.5 percent more than in 2010.
