Injured Russian boy to be taken to Russia for further treatment

MOSCOW, July 16 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian medics who arrived in Turkey on
Saturday will soon decide whether an injured Russian nine-year-old boy,
Kirill Gudkov, could be taken to Russia, and expert from Russia's Public
Chamber and the head of the centre for the protection of Russian citizens
abroad, Dmitry Davydenko, told Itar-Tass.
Davydenko is in contact with the child's relatives and Turkish doctors.
According to Davydenko, specialists from the Russian disaster medicine
centre who arrived to Turkey by a Russian Emergencies Ministry's plane
have already examined the boy and said he can be transported home. Now
they are hooking him up to life support equipment. "If everything is OK,
we plan that the plane will take off for Russia at 00:30," he said.
Davydenko noted the Public Chamber closely watches the situation. On
Friday, the chamber formed a working group to work until the child's
matter is settled.
There is an agreement with children's surgeon Leonid Roshal who may
control the treatment of the boy. In what hospital the boy will be taken
will be decided in Moscow.
The Renaissance Insurance Co, which insured the boy, said it is not an
insurance event. "If it is proved that the boy was injured due to a
negligence of the hotel personnel, we shall claim the hotel to compensate
medical expenses and psychological damage," Davydenko stressed.
Nine-year-old Russian citizen Kirill Gudkov is unconscious for six
days after he was injured at water slides in a Turkish hotel. Local
doctors describe his state as critical. It is diagnosed as cerebral edema.
