Turkish Cyprus starts selling electricity to Greek Cypriots

LEFKOSA (A.A) - July 17, 2011 - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus began on Saturday selling electricity to the Greek Cypriot side which had seen its main power station destroyed by an arms blast last Monday.
The agreement for the deal was signed early yesterday between Cyprus Turk Electric Authority and Mavros Mavrommatis, chairman of a Greek Cypriot chamber of commerce and industry.
The deal covers the sale of 60 to 120 kilowatts of electricity till the end of August at a price of 0.43 Turkish liras (0.27 cents).
A cache of 98 containers full of munitions in a naval base blew up killing 13, knocking out the power station and over half of the island's electricity supply.
