Hyundai tops customer brand loyalty in U.S.

SEOUL, July 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's leading automaker Hyundai Motor Co. topped the U.S. consumer brand loyalty list in the second quarter, outperforming rivals such as Honda and Toyota, a leading American automotive information provider said Tuesday.
According to Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com), 52.3 percent of all Hyundai car owners polled said they plan to buy a car from the South Korean automaker in the future. It is the first time that Hyundai has placed first in the list on a quarterly basis.
With the exception of Hyundai, no other carmaker had brand loyalty exceeding the 50 percent mark in the April-June period. The figure was 49.7 percent for runner-up Honda and 47.7 percent for Toyota.
Hyundai ranked No. 1 on the Kelly Blue Book brand loyalty list in February 2010, although it was unable to sustain the lead in the face of stiff competition from Japanese companies.
Kelly Blue Book said that Hyundai's good performance is due to the release of innovative car models such as the latest Sonata mid-size sedan and the Elantra compact, which have all received high marks from consumers.
Hyundai's aggressive marketing efforts have also bolstered people's impressions about the company, it said. Hyundai offers industry-leading warranties for car buyers and has raised the overall performance and fuel economy of its vehicles.
