Commander: IRGC to Continue Confrontation with Terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that Iranian forces have hit heavy blow to Iraq-based armed opposition group, PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan), and stressed that Iran will continue to show crushing response to terrorists.
Iran has recently deployed 5,000 military forces in the Northwestern parts of the country along its joint border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
During the operations, the IRGC forces killed, injured and arrested tens of terrorists and destroyed their headquarters in the bordering areas of Alvatan near Sardasht city in Northwestern Iran.
Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour emphasized on Monday that the IRGC operations against PJAK will continue till the terrorist group's full annihilation.
"During the recent days the combatants stationed at Hamzeh Seyyed ul-Shohada IRGC barracks, in line with their mission of ensuring the sustainable security and countering the anti-security factors that create problems for our dear border region citizens, got engaged in armed clashed in a vast operation with PJAK terrorists, and inflicted fatal strokes against them," he stated.
"The terrorist activities in Kurdish regions of Iran have always been at the focus attention of the anti-revolutionary forces, terrorist groups, the United States and the Zionist regime, and these moves against security have led to slowing down the development plans and advancement of the region, as well as a great nuisance in offering the system officials' services to the people in border regions of Iran's Kurdistan Province."
Pakpour referred to the IRGC's important mission of ensuring the security and stability of the country's Kurdish people and regions, reiterated, "Combatants from Hamzeh barracks, comprised of Basij mobilization forces and indigenous Kurdish forces began their preemptive operations indescribably bravely against the aggressions and crisis making of PJAK terrorists that had occupied some parts of our border regions and begun threatening the security and stability of our people and our borders, thus far killing dozens of them, and wounding a lot more."
The commander further stated that the IRGC will continue to punish PJAK.
Pakpour at the end expressed hope that the Iraqi Government and the Iraqi Autonomous Kurdistan would prevent the activities and also residence of the in the vicinity of the Iranian borders.
