FM encourages 15-year-old leukemia patient who dreams of becoming diplomat

SEOUL, July 19 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan on Tuesday gave a pep talk to a 15-year-old leukemia patient who dreams of becoming a diplomat, encouraging her to fully recover from the cancer and achieve her dream.
Kim invited Lee Hyun-kyung, who has been waging a three-year fight against acute lymphoblastic leukemia that was diagnosed in 2009 when she was a sixth grader, to his office at the Foreign Ministry. The invitation was made after the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation conveyed Lee's story to the ministry.
"Despite your illness, you look good and energetic," Kim told her with a hug. "I hope you fully recover from the illness and become an excellent diplomat."
Lee said, "As I come to the Foreign Ministry, I feel a sense of confidence that I can win my fight against leukemia."
"I am going to come here again, no matter what, as a diplomat," she told the minister.
Kim gave a language-learning device to Lee as a gift, in recognition of her dream of becoming a diplomat.
Kim also offered to give her a "special lecture" on the qualifications of a diplomat through the social network service Twitter.
