Former Lebanese President Lauds Iran for Defusing US Plots

TEHRAN (FNA)- Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi underlined the failure of the US and the Zionist regime's plots in the region, and hailed Iran's effective role in this regard.
"Iran's role in foiling these plots has been important and should be praised," Lahoud said on Monday, stressing that the front of Resistance is now in good conditions in the region.
During the meeting, Roknabadi appreciated Lahoud's positions on resistance and campaign against the US and the Zionist regime's arrogance, and extended an invitation from Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to Lahoud to attend the fifth international conference on support for the Palestinian Intifada (uprising) in Tehran.
Roknabadi also once again reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran's strong support for the Lebanese nation and government.
Iranian and Lebanese officials have made serious efforts during the last two years to take a wide stride in consolidating and expanding the two countries' ties and cooperation.
In April, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a phone conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri stressed Tehran and Beirut's common views on different regional and international issues, and said the two nations' solidarity has defused enemies' plots.
"The deep solidarity between Iran and Lebanon has thwarted enemies' plots against the two nations," Ahmadinejad said at the time, noting, "The recent developments in the region and the attitude of the US and its allies towards these developments prove our view that they are merely seeking their own interests."
