Iran Warns about West's Policies in Region
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast warned of the US policies in the region, and stressed that withdrawal of foreign forces is the best way to restore regional peace and security.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that interference of the trans-regional countries, including the United States of America, will not serve the interests of regional nations," Mehman-Parast told reporters in his weekly press conference today.
"We are suspicious of the moves made by the US officials and their allies since their presence has not yielded any benefit for the regional nations so far," he stated.
He added that insecurity, instability, intensified terrorist and drug-trafficking activities, destruction of economic infrastructures and massacre of the innocent people have been the only product of the presence of the US and its allies in the region.
Mehman-Parast further called on foreigners to leave the region, and stated, "The best service that the US officials can render to the regional states is to leave the region."
Late in June, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei took the US presence in Iraq responsible for the worsening of problems in the war-torn country and region.
Speaking at a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani here in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei called the US interfering presence in Iraq as the source of problems in the country and in the region.
