Swiss prisoner escapes colony settlement to avoid deportation
VLADIKAVKAZ, July 23 (Itar-Tass) - Police in North Ossetia believes
that the Swiss citizen Martin Hoisler escaped from a penal colony
settlement located several kilometres away from Vladikavkaz on Thursday
because he didn't want to return to his home country.
Hoisler was convicted last year fro illegal trespassing of the state
border. He had one day left till his release.
A source at the branch of the Federal Service for the Execution of
Punishments for North Ossetia told Itar-Tass that the Swiss had run away
because he didn't want to return to Switzerland where he had problems with
the law.
Shortly after Hoisler's release from colony, the Federal Migration
Service had to organize his deportation to Switzerland because Hoisler
didn't have any documents.
Hoisler was detained at the border checkpoint of Verkniy Zaramag,
which is located near the northern portal of the Roki tunnel, which
connects Russia to South Ossetia. He accepted Islam in Turkey several
years ago. After detention, the South Ossetian law enforcers checked his
possible links to underground rebel groups in the North Caucasus.
At present, North Ossetian police and commando units are searching for
the fugitive.
