Iran's Youth Karate Team Ranks First in Asia
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian national youth karate team obtained the first place in the 11th Asian Karate Federation Junior Championships.
Iranian karatekas won six gold medals, one silver, and one bronze to claim the title at Qiaoxiang Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.
Ali Najafi, Masoud Parviz, Mohammad Shaygan, Sajjad Hayati, Emad Mojdei, and Shahin Balalaei pocketed gold medals for Iran, while Hamed Akbari won a silver, and the kata team of Mehdi Afiati and Mohammad Hosseini won a bronze.
The national team of Japan stood second with four golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.
Iranian female youth karatekas also performed well at the event.
Parisa Vafaei bagged a gold medal for the Iranian female team, and Mahtab Esmaili and Mohaddaseh Aqaei won two silvers for the squad.
The Iranian under-17 female kata team also won another gold medal.
