Kuwaiti Activist: US, Israel Plot to Sow Discord between Iran, Arabs

TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary-General of the Islamic Movement for National Solidarity in Kuwait Zahir Abdulhadi al-Mahmeed warned that the US and Israel have hatched a plot to create a rift between Iran and the Arab world to divert attention from the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"The Western countries, spearheaded by the US and the Zionist regime, are seeking to turn the Arab-Zionist conflict to an Arab-Iran animosity," Mahmeed told FNA on Sunday.
He also underlined that Israel and the US are fearful of unity among the world Muslims, and said Zionist leaders have on many occasions talked about creating an Arab coalition to stand against the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Yet, Mahmeed downplayed efficiency of such plots and conspiracies, and said Arab nations assume Iran as their strategic depth.
Iran has also on many occasions warned that the US and the Zionist regime of Israel have hatched plots to sow discord among the regional countries, and called on its Arab neighbors in the Persian Gulf region to keep vigilant against such conspiracies.
"Creating rifts among the regional countries is the conspiracy pursued by the Zionist-US propaganda and political campaign in our region," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said in his weekly press conference in Tehran in May.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has also warned that enemies have hatched plots to create a rift among Shiite and Sunni Muslims in the region.
During the past decades enemies were making the right-left game in the region to deceive Muslims, Ahmadinejad said in April, adding that enemies are pursuing the divide and rule policy in the region by raising anti-Iran and anti-Shiite propaganda.
The President added that one of the major objectives of the enemies in the Middle East was to divide regional states into different sections in order to easily rule them.
He added that while enemies were "encouraging the Muslims to kill their own brothers, they prevent them from taking into consideration the crimes being systematically committed by the Zionist regime against Palestinian Muslims."
President Ahmadinejad stressed the need for vigilance of regional states against the enemies' plots.
