Doosan Heavy Q2 net more than doubles

SEOUL, July 25 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's leading power equipment maker, said Monday that its second-quarter earnings more than doubled from a year earlier on increased sales and gains from equity ties with affiliates.
Net profit reached 158 billion won (US$149 million) in the April-June period, compared with a profit of 61 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Sales surged 21 percent to 1.47 trillion won over the cited period, while operating income sank 11.7 percent to 145 billion won, it said.
Shares of Doosan Heavy closed at 68,400 won on the Seoul bourse, up 0.74 percent from Friday. The second-quarter results were released after the market closed.
