Palestinian Politician Warns about US Plot to Derail Regional Movements

TEHRAN (FNA)- A prominent Palestinian politician cautioned that the US is seeking to derail the popular uprisings in the region since Washington knows well that the current movements will eventually end in standing up against the US policies in the region.
"The White House understands that the region is witnessing a change in shape and identity and this time the White House cannot practice its plots to dominate the regional nations and their wealth," Representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement in Beirut Abu Emad El-Refaei told FNA on Monday.

He added that the US has also realized that the current popular uprisings will finally stand against its programs and policies.

"Owing to the same fact, it (the US) sometime tries to make them face failure, and sometimes tries to hijack these revolutions or derail them," Refaei stated.

He also warned that the US will resort to sowing discord among the regional nations as a way to materialize its goals.

However, Refaei expressed confidence about ineffectiveness of the US plots, and called on the regional nations who are experiencing revolutions and uprisings to unite against the US conspiracies.

Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.

Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Yemen have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.

Bahrain and Yemen, however, have experienced the deadliest clashes, while in Bahrain the military intervention of Saudi-led forces from neighboring Arab states has further fueled the crisis in the Persian Gulf kingdom.
