Berlin Vows to End PJAK Leader's Activities in Germany

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi announced that Berlin has pledged to pursue the case with the activities of the ringleader of the PJAK (the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) terrorist group in Germany.
Salehi said on Monday that he has raised the issue in a phone conversation with his German counterpart Guido Westerwelle, in which the two sides also discussed bilateral and regional issues, Afghanistan in particular.
"I raised the issue of the PJAK terrorist group's aggressions with him (Westerwelle) and I told him that a country like Germany is not expected to allow the leader of this group to be free and to announce that his group would continue terror and assassinations," Salehi stated.
The Iranian minister added that Westerwelle has assured him that his country would pursue the case.
Iran on Saturday called on Berlin to put on trial the leader of the PJAK terrorist group, Rahman Haji Ahmadi, who reportedly lives in Germany.
Also on Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the German Charge D'affaires in Tehran in a bid to voice Iran's strong protest against the presence and free activity of the terrorist PJAK group in Germany.
In absence of Berlin's ambassador to Tehran, German Charge D'affaires Benita Kadenbach was summoned to the Foreign Ministry to convey Iran's formal protest to the German government.
Last week, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched a series of attacks on the bases of the banned group near Iran's border with Iraq.
About 5,000 military forces were deployed in the Northwestern parts of the country along its joint border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
During the operations, the IRGC forces killed, injured and arrested tens of terrorists and destroyed their headquarters in the bordering areas of Alvatan near Sardasht city in Northwestern Iran.
Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour emphasized last Monday that the IRGC operations against PJAK will continue till the terrorist group's full annihilation.
PJAK, a militant Kurdish nationalist group with bases in the mountainous regions of Northern Iraq, has been carrying out numerous attacks in Western Iran, Southern Turkey and the Northeastern parts of Syria where the Kurdish populations live.
The separatist group has been fighting to establish an autonomous state, or possibly a new world country, in the area after separating Kurdish regions from
