S. Korean student dies in Ghana after jumping from taxi
SEOUL (Yonhap) - A South Korean female university student died in Ghana after jumping from a taxi as she was apparently thought to be kidnapped, a foreign ministry official in Seoul said Monday.
The incident took place at an airport in Ghana at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday (local time) when the 21-year-old student took the taxi to go to a hotel.
As the taxi driver moved off without taking her colleague, the student, identified only by her surname Yoon, jumped from the taxi and died of a brain injury, the official said.
The woman "seemed to jump from the taxi on suspicion of being kidnapped," the official said on the condition of anonymity.
Local police were questioning the taxi driver to find out the exact cause of the incident, according to the official.
