Siberian AgroOmsk 2011 expo features best technology samples
OMSK, July 27 (Itar-Tass) - Over 200 Russian and foreign industrial
and agricultural enterprises are taking part in the IX Siberian Exhibition
and Fair AgroOmsk 2011, which opens in the city on the Irtysh River on
Wednesday.
The current agricultural forum is timed to the 100th anniversary of
the first Western-Siberian agricultural, forestry, trade and industrial
exhibition, which first took place in Omsk in 1911, Deputy Prime Minister
and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk region Vladimir Rarov
told Itar-Tass.
AgroOmsk 2011 is the largest exhibition in its history. It shows the
achievements of agriculture and processing industry of one of Russia's
largest agricultural donor regions. Along with the new combine harvesters
Vector-410, speed drills, cultivators, new caterpillar tractors and forage
harvesters the exhibition features the latest technology in crop and
livestock production.
"Among the novelties," the minister noted, "there are four
technological chains ranging from seedbed preparation to harvesting crops
- fodder, flax and potatoes. The regional government has set the task to
quickly bring the new technology and equipment from the exhibition
directly to the fields and farms of the Omsk region at the Irtysh, to
farms of different ownership forms and to households. The leading
specialists of the Siberian Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture
and Omsk State Agricultural University will promote all the best and new.
The exhibition will run until July 31. It is expected to have nearly
a quarter of a million visitors. Dozens of folk and pop bands will perform
during the exhibition. Shows of elite breeds of horses, cattle and small
ruminants, birds will also be held. The young visitors will be
traditionally attracted by the Kindergarten for Animals, the exhibition
Companion Animals, and adults will enjoy the Festival of Shashlik (Shish
Kebab), Miss-AgroOmsk 2011 contest, as well as the traditional exhibition
of the best varieties of Siberian honey.
