Venezuelan Speaker Views Iran as Role Model for Other States
TEHRAN (FNA)- Venezuela's National Assembly Speaker Fernando Soto Rojas praised Iran's resistance against the world arrogant powers, and said Tehran has set a role model for the other states.
Speaking in a meeting with Iranian MP Hossein Sobhaninia, who has traveled to Caracas to submit an invitation letter from Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to Rojas, the Venezuelan speaker said he attaches great importance to Iran's resistance and revolution against the world hegemonic powers.
He further pointed out that his nation is pursuing a positive attitude towards Iran because of Tehran's major role in the region and the world.
The Venezuelan speaker called for the expansion of ties between the two countries, and expressed his readiness to travel to Tehran to exchange views with Iranian officials.
Sobhaninia, for his part, voiced the Iranian parliament's preparedness to boost mutual cooperation with the Venezuelan legislature.
He said the strong determination of the two countries' officials to promote ties provides further grounds for strengthening their cooperation.
Since taking office in 2005, the Iranian President has expanded Iran's cooperation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela, Bolivia and Cuba.
But the strong and rapidly growing ties between Iran and Venezuela have raised eyebrows in the US and its western allies since Tehran and Caracas have forged an alliance against the imperialist and colonialist powers and are striving hard to reinvigorate their relations with the other independent countries which pursue a line of policy independent from the US.
