Iran, Norway Underline Further Development of Bilateral Ties
TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Iranian and Norwegian diplomats in a meeting in Tehran stressed the necessity for the further reinvigoration of the bilateral relations between the two countries, and urged both sides' officials to utilize abundant intact potentials and capacities to this end.
"There are abundant potentials and capacities in the (two countries') relations and the two sides should make use of these potentials in order for us to witness expansion and progress of these relations," Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said in a meeting with outgoing Norwegian Ambassador to Iran Roald Naess in Tehran on Tuesday.
He also described the bilateral relations between Tehran and Oslo as good.
The Norwegian diplomat, for his part, expressed the hope that the ties between the two countries would further strengthen through increased efforts by the two states' officials, lamenting that capacities existing in Iran-Norway relations have remained intact.
The Iranian and Norwegian officials have in recent years boosted their efforts to further expand relations between the two countries in different fields.
Iranian and Norwegian universities in November signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide the needed financial support for a research project on the Persian Gulf.
"The MoU is actually a research project on the Persian Gulf subject which will be financed by the Persian Gulf research department of Oslo University," Alireza Jalilifar, a member of the science board of Iran's Shahid Chamran University, said at the time.
