Official Asks UN to Launch Probe into Assassination of Iranian Scientists

TEHRAN (FNA)- Director of Iran Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics Javad Larijani blamed the Zionist regime of Israel for the Saturday assassination of a young Iranian scientist, and asked the UN to investigate the case.
"Mr. Rezaeenezhad's assassination shows that there is a quite hostile policy against our nation, in which the Zionists and the United States and some European governments are fully engaged," said Larijani, who is also the Secretary-General of Iran's High Council of Human Rights.
"Being a scientific elite was his only guilt, and he was just working for the progress of his country," he added.
"This is not just a hostile policy against the Iranian nation but a crime against humanity," he continued, reminding assassination of some other Iranian scientists in recent years, which he said have all been masterminded by the Israeli regime and the United States.
"We have written a letter to Mrs. Navi Pillay, the high commissioner of UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva, and profoundly asked her to report this issue to the United Nations that why Iranian scientists are martyred by the Zionists and hostile regimes."
According to Larijani, assassination of scientists means targeting the heart of human identity, that is the right to use science and knowledge.
Emphasizing that our enemies can't bear a powerful and well progressed Iran, he warned that our scientists' blood will not be wasted and the blessing of their blood belongs not just to Iran, but to all humanity.
Larijani also said that the international community should stand against this crime, underlining that the UN should open a query about the question why Iranian scientists are being killed.
"The UN Security Council issues a resolution and makes a list of our scientists, then some terrorists who receive money from the CIA and Mossad, kill them," said Larijani, "this is a very clear game and strong action should be taken about it."
