S. Korea's Choi advances to men's 200-meter breaststroke final at world championships
SHANGHAI (Yonhap) - South Korean swimmer Choi Kyu-woong broke his own Korean record to make it to the final in the men's 200-meter breaststroke at the 2011 FINA World Aquatics Championships on Thursday.
Choi finished his semifinal heat in 2 minutes, 11.27 seconds at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, breaking his own Korean record set in 2009. Choi qualified for the final as the seventh fastest among the 16 semifinalists.
The final is scheduled for Friday.
Choi became the fourth South Korean swimmer ever to qualify for a world championship final.
