SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, said Friday that its second-quarter earnings surged 66.8 percent on-year, fueled by brisk domestic and overseas sales.
Net profit reached 1.12 trillion won (US$1.07 billion) in the April-June period, compared to 676.1 billion won tallied a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Sales rose 25.2 percent on-year to 11.58 trillion won in the three-month period, and operating profit spiked 55.8 percent to 1.03 trillion won, it said.
All figures are consolidated, meaning they encompass results from Hyundai's domestic and overseas affiliates.
