S. Korea decides to impose entry ban on Japanese lawmakers

SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's justice ministry said Friday it has decided to impose an entry ban on four Japanese lawmakers planning to visit an island near Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo.
Diplomatic tensions between Seoul and Tokyo have flared up as four lawmakers of Japan's opposition Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) are planning a trip to Ulleung Island, located about 90 kilometers west of Dokdo, early next week.
"The government has decided to ban them from entering South Korea and to take necessary actions for that," said an official at the Ministry of Justice.
South Korea has viewed such a move as Japan's attempt to reassert Tokyo's territorial claims to the islets.
