N. Korea, U.S. begin 2nd-day talks

NEW YORK, July 29 (Yonhap) -- North Korea and the United States began a second day of talks in New York Friday as Washington seeks a clear indication that Pyongyang is serious about denuclearization.
A State Department official confirmed that the North's Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan and Stephen Bosworth, Washington's point man on Pyongyang, opened another round of meeting at 10 a.m. at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
It follows five hours of negotiations between the two sides at the same venue on Thursday. The U.S. said the meeting was "serious and business-like." The North's diplomat said it was "constructive."
"Did you sleep well yesterday?," Kim briefly told reporters, leaving his hotel for the second-day session.
He did not answer when asked if a joint statement will be released later in the day.
This week's talks between Kim and Bosworth, the first in 19 months, are aimed at exploring ways to restart the six-way talks on the communist nation's nuclear program.
The U.S. said the talks are to see if the North is ready for full-scale negotiations on denuclearization and bilateral relations.
