KAZAN, Tatarstan, July 30 (Itar-Tass) - Kazan will host the first
charitable golf tournament for the Cup of the president of Tatarstan this
summer.
Twelve teams representing Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan will
participate in competitions on August 19-21.
Rafis Burganov, the regional minister for the affairs of youth, sport
and tourism, said that all the earnings would be spent to improve the
material basis of Tatarstan's team of wheel-chaired basketball players.
"We expect that governors, members of the upper and lower houses of
parliament and other celebrities to take part in the tournament," Leonid
Spiridonov, the general director of the GolfEast company, said.
President Rustam Minnikhanov will head the team of Tatarstan, the
minister went on to say.
There are plans to make the gold tournament in Tatarstan an annual
event.
