Iran to Resume Exports of Gas to Turkey
TEHRAN (FNA)- A spokesman of the National Iranian Gas Company announced that the country will resume gas supplies to Turkey on Saturday after gas flow in Iran-Turkey pipeline was temporarily halted by an explosion on Friday morning.
"The maintenance of the Iran-Turkey gas exports pipeline is in its final stages and the flow of gas will be resumed in the pipeline by midday," Majid Bujarzadeh told FNA on Saturday.
Meantime, the spokesman said that the cause of explosion has not been announced to the national Iranian gas company yet.
The early Friday blast is said to have taken place near a village around the Northwestern town of Maku close to Iran's border with Turkey.
According to reports, Iran exports a daily average of more than 30 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey, which indicates a daily growth of eleven million cubic meters in 2010.
