Sevastopol celebrates its main holiday - Navy Day
SEVASTOPOL (Itar-Tass) - Hero-City Sevastopol celebrates on
Sunday a most important holiday - the Day of Russia's Navy. By tradition,
it begins with a solemn ascent on the Black Sea Fleet of the naval flag
and flags of colorization.
The main maritime part of the holiday will begin at 10:15 Moscow time
with a parade of ships of the fleet in Sevastopol Bay. It will involve 30
warships and auxiliary vessels.
"In the first line on the front drums in the waters of the bay will
stand the Moskva guard missile cruiser, a large landing ship, the
Novocherkassk, a large anti-submarine ship, the Kerch", - Head of the
Black Sea Fleet's press service Vyacheslav Trukhachev said. This time,
viewers will not see the Alrosa submarine which is being renovated in
Baltiisk, he added. Ukraine's Navy will put in the grand order a large
landing ship - Konstantin Olshansky. The Black Sea Fleet Commander, Rear
Admiral Alexander Fedotenko will receive the parade. Together with his
colleague - the Ukrainian Navy Commander Admiral Viktor Maksimov, they
will go by boat down the line of ships and sailors to congratulate them on
their professional holiday.
Vjacheslav Trukhachev said that due to the mourning in Ukraine for the
dead miners, entertaining part of the festival is canceled
