Minister Lauds Armed Forces' High Scientific Capabilities

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar on Sunday praised the high capabilities of the Iranian Armed Forces in supplying their needs indigenously.
"The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are equipped with up-to-date science and knowledge and enjoy high capabilities in these fields," Najjar said in Iran's central city of Arak, adding that the issue has scared the enemies of Iran.
The minister praised the indigenous capabilities of the Iranian Armed Forces and stated, "Today we are producing everything in the armed forces by ourselves. Whatever we need on land and in the air, from a single bullet to missiles, aircraft and warships, they are being designed and produced based on the experiences and expertise of local elites and thinkers."
He also voiced Iran's preparedness to transfer its capabilities and equipments to the other world countries.
Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.
Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.
The Iranian Armed Forces recently test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles and torpedoes and tested a large number of its home-made weapons, tools and equipments, including submarines, military ships, artillery, choppers, aircraft, UAVs and air defense and electronic systems, in a series of massive military drills.
Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor, specially at a time of heightened threats by the US.
