Qatari Interior Minister to Visit Iran Next Month
TEHRAN (FNA)- Qatari Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani is due to visit Tehran next month to meet with Iranian officials and pursue implementation of a security agreement signed earlier between the two countries.
The issue was raised in al-Thani's meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Doha Abdollah Sohrabi, where the two sides underlined the necessity for increasing efforts to further expand and reinvigorate all-out relations between the two neighbors.
"The relations between the two countries are friendly and brotherly and consolidation of these ties in line with the development of stability and security in the region will serve the common good and interests of all the regional countries," al-Thani said.
Iran and Qatar have recently augmented efforts to further expand ties and cooperation in all the different political, economic, defense and security fields.
The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation, specially in different areas of security.
In relevant remarks, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani stressed Doha's enthusiasm for the further expansion of bilateral ties with Tehran, and hailed Iran's effective and important role in the region and the world.
Al Thani made the remarks after holding a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Doha in May, describing his negotiations with the Iranian top diplomat as "constructive and fruitful".
He also stressed that further consolidation of relations with Tehran is highly important for promoting stability and security of the region.
