SUMMIT ADDED TO COUNCIL
The first Supreme Military Council (YAS) meeting, which began on Monday after resignation of chief of general staff and three force commanders, was blocked as the government that wanted to appoint force commanders on the last day of the meeting, was stuck around the Article 34 of the Turkish Armed Forces Personnel Law.
According to the law, promotion and retirement decisions could not be made before chief of general staff and force commanders are appointed. Therefore, yesterday's meeting lasted only for 50 minutes. The council did not discuss promotion or retirement of general and admirals, including Balyoz (Sledgehammer) case suspects.
After the YAS meeting, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Acting Chief of General Staff Necdet Ozel had a surprising meeting. In the meeting, they searched for a formula to overcome the existing problem. Then, Erdogan met Justice Minister. Sources said the Article 34 of the Turkish Armed Forces Personnel Law could be amended and "decree in the force of law" authority could be used.

AK PARTY'S INTEREST IN KURDISH POLITICIAN
Kurdish politician Kemal Burkay met European Union (EU) Minister Egemen Bagis. Bagis said the line in Burkay's poet "Gulumse" (Smile) saying that "climate changes, becomes Mediterranean" told about the transformation process in Turkey. Burkay said, "maybe Mediterranean climate can totally come six months or a year later. At the moment, we are living February and March weather."

NOBODY CAN PRESS ON US
Turkish Football Federation's chairman Mehmet Aydinlar said the ethical board would make a decision on match-fixing scandal before waiting for a judicial decision, adding, "nobody can press on us." Aydinlar said, "allegations that the board is having difficulties in making a decision is wrong. It is working day and night. Not only football but also sports media are dirty." Aydinlar hoped that the board would make a decision before the league began on September 9.
