Iran Discovers New Light Crude Oil Layers

TEHRAN (FNA)- Managing Director of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) Mehdi Fakour announced that Iran has discovered two new oil layers with light crude supplies in the Southern part of the country.
Fakour went on to say that the exploitation of the new oilfields of Dey and Sepidzakhor will start in 2013 and predicted that about 15 million cubic meters of natural gas would also be produced at the sites.

Fakour added that exploration operations are currently underway to find another oil layer in the area.

The new oilfields are located near Qir-o-Karzin town in Fars province.

Iran sits on the world's second largest reserves of both oil and gas.

Senior Iranian oil officials announced that Iran will invest $18 billion in the development of its oil and gas fields in the hydrocarbon-rich South of the country in a 5-year development plan ending 2015.
