Iran Renews Support for Multilateral Cooperation among Regional States
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian foreign ministry spokesman underlined Tehran's continued support for any plan that may lead to further convergence among the regional states, specially among those countries which are of influence.
"We definitely support any plan that helps the great and influential countries of the region to stand beside each other and increase the existing capacities of the region through multi-lateral cooperation and to establish cooperation which would lead to stability, tranquility, development and progress of countries," Ramin Mehman-Parast said in his weekly press conference here in Tehran on Tuesday.
"All nations of the region want stronger cooperation between Iran and other countries, Arab and non-Arab countries, including Turkey and Egypt and countries that enjoy high capacities," he added.
The remarks by Mehman-Parast came after Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayyib, the Imam of Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, called on Iran, Egypt, and Turkey to establish an Islamic triangle.
Speaking in a meeting with an Iranian delegation in Egypt, al-Tayyib said that the Iran-Turkey-Egypt triangle would serve the interests of the entire Muslim world.
