Railwaymen's exhibition center on-wheels to set out from Moscow
MOSCOW, August 3 (Itar-Tass) - A unique railwaymen's "exhibition
center on wheels" sets out from Moscow's Rizhsky (Riga) railway terminal
on Wednesday, ahead of the Railwayman Day, on its journey to Sovetskaya
Gavan (Soviet harbour) in Khabarovsk Territory.
Exhibits in the eight coaches of the train will include scale models
of contemporary railway rolling stock that is in use on the country's
railways, an official at the Russian Railways Company (RZD) has told
Itar-Tass.
"Items on view feature gas-turbine locomotives and coaches,
coal-carrying cars, electric locomotives of passenger trains, diesel
locomotives, and even a scale model of a two-deck compartment carriage
which currently undergoes testing," the RZD official pointed out.
A separate exhibition is dedicated to the history of development of
the domestic railway transport and its modern infrastructure. "This is
well illustrated by the scale model of an Aviaexpress railway terminal
built at the Sochi airport, and the railway complex of the Baikonur
cosmodrome," the RZD official said. Rosnano, Rosatom, as well as Philips
Company have arranged their display stands at the exhibition center on
wheels.
The train will make stopovers at all large stations to enable as many
people as possible to view the exhibition. Railwaymen emphasize that it
will be possible to deliver lectures and hold seminars dealing with the
present exhibition. The train consists of eight exhibition coaches and
three caboose ones developed on the basis of new-generation compartment
carriages made at the Tver-based production plant.
Railwayman Day in Russia this year will be marked on Aug 7.
