Russia-SKorea sea borderguards to hold exercises on Aug 9

VLADIVOSTOK, August 3 (Itar-Tass) - The sea borderguards of Russia and
the Republic of Korea (ROK) are to hold exercises in the Gulf of Peter the
Great near the shores of Primorsky (maritime) Territory (PT) on August 9.
An officer in the press group of the Border guarding department of
Russia's FSB (Federal Security Service) for PT has told Itar-Tass that
taking part in the exercises on the Russian side will be the border patrol
ships Komandor and Primorye, two high-speed border patrol boats, an AN-26
aircraft and helicopter MI-8 of FSB aviation, a special-purpose group and
patrol boat Skipper Gek.
The border patrol ship with board number 5,001, its onboard boat and
a a group of special-purpose troops will take part in the exercises on the
Korean side.
"During the exercises the borderguards of the two countries will drill
interaction in a search for and spotting of a ship that issued an alarm
signal indicating the seizure of the ship by gunmen, and rescue a ship and
its crew founding themselves in distress," the officer pointed out.
After accomplishing all the training missions, the South Korean ship
will call at Vladivostok for a visit. Until Aug 12, theborderguards of the
ROK will be familiarizing themselves with the city and holding a friendly
sports meet with Russian counterparts, determining who is the finest in a
soccer match, tug-of-war, and weightlifting. Vladivostok residents will be
able to visit the South Korean ship on one of the days of the ship's stay
at the port.
