Mubarak to Stand Trial in Cairo

TEHRAN (FNA)- The trial of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is scheduled to start in the capital city of Cairo on Wednesday on charges of corruption and ordering the killing of protesters.
A plane set to transfer Mubarak to Cairo has arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh where he has been under arrest in a hospital since April.
"The aircraft that will take Mubarak to the police academy has landed in Sharm el-Sheikh," Egypt's public television said on Wednesday.
The trial of Mubarak who was forced to resign in February has been a key demand of protesters.
The trial was previously scheduled to be held in a Cairo convention center but it was later decided to hold the session in a temporary courtroom set up in the police academy.
His sons Alaa and Gamal, ex-Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six former other officials will also be in court.
Some 3,000 soldiers and police have been drafted in to maintain order at Cairo's police academy for the trial.
A cage for the defendants has been built and an estimated 600 people are expected to watch the proceedings.
Egypt's judicial officials say Mubarak could be executed if found guilty of ordering to shoot anti-government protesters.
