Envoy: Iran Ready to Increase All-Out Cooperation with Lebanon

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi stressed Tehran's readiness to boost mutual cooperation with Lebanon in all arenas, including oil and gas exploration and extraction.
"We, as the Islamic Republic of Iran, have … experts in the field of petrol extraction … and we're ready to cooperate with Lebanon on this field," Roknabadi said in a meeting with Lebanese Energy and Water Minister Gibran Bassil Tuesday.

"We're ready to cooperate and to reinforce our cooperation in different areas, especially given that the Islamic Republic of Iran has reached self-sufficiency in most fields," the ambassador said.

Iranian and Lebanese officials have recently doubled efforts to further expand the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour stressed Iran's role in the establishment of peace and security in the region, and said Beirut is eager to develop bilateral relations with Iran in all fields.

The Lebanese foreign minister said in June that Iran favors the "establishment of peace and security" in the region and is against any foreign intervention in the internal affairs of other states.

"Iran wants the establishment of peace and security in the region and to distance nations from the intervention and domination of foreign countries," Adnan Mansour said.

Mansour reiterated that Beirut is eager to "expand relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields."
