S. Korean killed in robbery attempt in Sao Paulo

SAO PAULO (Yonhap) -- A South Korean businessman was shot to death in a botched robbery attempt in eastern Sao Paulo, South Korean consulate officials here said Wednesday.
The 35-year-old victim, identified only by his surname Sohn, was shot in the chest by an armed robber during a visit to his former wife's home in Vila Progresso, Sao Paulo, Tuesday night, according to the officials of the Korean Consulate General.
He was pronounced dead while being rushed to a nearby hospital, they said.
The armed robber fled the scene with four accomplices, officials said, adding that a police probe was still under way.
Sohn was playing computer games with his two sons when the five masked armed robbers broke into the home and ordered him to surrender cash, credit cards and his car key.
Sohn had been running a clothing company with his parents in downtown Sao Paolo.
The consulate general said it offered its condolences to the bereaved family members, and asked the local police to conduct a prompt investigation.
