New generation locomotive to go on trial run in Sverdlovsk region.

YEKATERINBURG, August 4 (Itar-Tass) -- A new generation locomotive,
2ES10 Granit, will go on a trial run ion the Sverdlovsk region on
Thursday, August 4.
Russian Railways Company CEO Vladimir Yakunin will take a trip on
board the new 9-tonn locomotive.
"The region is finishing certification and acceptance tests of the
first 2ES10 locomotives created by Urals Locomotives, a joint venture of
Sinara Group and German Siemens in accordance with Russian Railways
Company's specifications. The locomotive will go on a trial run along the
Yekaterinburg-Sortirovochny-Balezino route," the company's press service
said.
The new cargo locomotive with asynchronous traction motor is quite
unique in Russia. It has increased capacity and traction power. With a
standard weight, the engine can pull trains weighing 40-50 percent more
than VL11 series locomotives. This is especially important in the
West-Siberian, South-Urals and Sverdlovsk railway roads with challenging
terrain.
