Two Korean builders picked as prime bidders for Spanish firm

SEOUL, Aug. 4 (Yonhap) -- Two South Korean builders have been named the preferred bidders for a Spanish firm that operates a desalination plant, industry sources said Thursday.
GS Engineering & Construction Co. and POSCO Engineering & Construction Co., the construction unit of South Korean steel giant POSCO, were picked as preferred bidders for Inima, a desalination arm of Spain's OHL Group, along with two other companies, according to the sources.
The sale process is expected to be completed by September, they said. GS Engineering said in a filing on Wednesday that it is mulling taking over the Spanish firm but nothing has been decided yet.
OHL Group has been seeking to sell Inima in an effort to reduce debt amid a prolonged economic slump in the European country. Inima has a daily processing capacity of 200,000 tons a day.
