Cambodia and Laos Promote Cooperation on Controlling Cross-border Drugs

VIENTIANE,AUG (KPL)- Cambodian national authority for combating drugs and Lao national commission for drug control and supervision have agreed to further strengthen the cooperation on controlling the cross-border drugs between both countries’ institutions.
The minutes on the cooperation taken in the meeting held between the two sides was signed by H.E. Soubanh Srithirath, chairman of the Lao National Commission for Drug Control and Supervision and H.E. Kao Khon Dara, vice chairman of Cambodian national authority for combating drugs, who was on visit to Lao province of Champasak on July 25 through 28.
There are five points being mentioned in the minutes of the meeting including the implementation of a joint statement in the 10th tripartite/bilateral ministerial meeting on drug control cooperation between Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos on December 8, 2010, the experience and information exchange for fighting against drug trafficking, establishing liaison offices in border provinces, organizing more meetings on the issue, conducting further foreign language training to fight against cross-border drug trafficking more effectively and raising other drug-related issues.
During the stay in Laos, H.E. Kao Khon Dara, vice chairman of Cambodian national authority for combating drugs went to Laos-Thailand border gate where he visited a vehicle equipped with modern equipment for controlling drugs.
