Errors found in military database

SEOUL, Aug. 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state auditor said Friday that it has found serious errors in the nation's consolidated military database system for management of troops and weapons.
In a report on the results of its audit carried out from October to December last year, the Board of Audit and Inspection said some basic information on the number and location of troops and weapons has been wrongly put into the Korean Joint Command and Control System.
The military database system is designed to integrate intelligence and communication of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force for better management of the military.
In one error, 33 South Korean military units were described as being stationed in North Korea, not in South Korea, above the ceasefire line which divides the two Koreas, said the auditor.
In another error, an army division had the wrong number of tanks, it said.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff admitted the errors but said it has already corrected them all.
