Senior Iranian MP Terms Mubarak's Trial Warning to Regional Dictators

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker welcomed the trial of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, his sons and a number of former regime officials, and said the trial is a warning to other dictators in the region.
"Mubarak's trial had an important message for all the regional nations and dictatorial rulers, and it says that dictators are all destined to stand public trial at court," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Ali Aqazadeh told FNA on Sunday.
He also reiterated that the collapse of Mubarak's regime and his trial as a dictator at the court gladdened the revolutionaries and was a warning to the dictators of the regional Arab states.
At a historic trial in the Arab world, ousted Egyptian President Mubarak stood in the dock on Wednesday, months after a revolution in the North African country ended decades-long rule of the overthrown dictator.
Mubarak, lying on a stretcher inside a metal cage, pleaded not guilty to charges of ordering the killing of protesters during the 18-day revolution in February. He also denied charges of corruption and abuse of power.
About 850 protesters were killed during the historic revolution.
