Khammouane: over 600 ha of farmland severely destroyed

VIENTIANE,AUG.(KPL)- Authorities of Khammouane province said last week that over 22,300 ha of farmland in 10 districts in the province were flooded and over 600 ha of which were severely damaged.
Mahasay, Yommalath and Sebangfay were reportedly most hard-hit by the flooding caused by torrential rains falling on 30-31 July.
Mahasay district had over 3,500 ha flooded in 49 villages, Yommalath district had 2,858 ha submerged in 14 villages and Sebangfay district encountered a flooding of 2,881 ha in 18 villages.
Last Wednesday, Governor of Khammouane, Mr. Khambay Damlath visited the flooding areas in Sabangfay, Mahasay and Yommalath districts and donated 10 million kip to flood victims in the said districts.
